Tippmann A-5 Cyclone
What up, SMUTers?
As many of you know, my cyclone died on me a month or so back. I will be contacting Tippmann eventually and hopefully they will provide replacement parts. However, I would like to get some feedback from everyone on the Cyclone UPGRADES that are currently on the market. Post links, give me reviews, prices, all that good stuff. This thread will most-likely be flooded by GM because I will probably be buying from him and it will depends on what he has to offer. Thank you in advance. |

Just installed a Vortex Mod because my Ratchet went bad. Pretty difficult install but from the parts it seems like it will be much more reliable. It looks like one of those parts that should have been metal from the beginning.
Other than the Vortex & a new QEV there really aren't any other upgrades for the cyclone outside of new hoppers for it. At least none that I am familiar with. I just bought some Shocker Lube today so I'll let you know how the Vortex works once I get a chance to lube it and try it out. Hopefully it works well or I might be borrowing a marker on New Years day! lol |

Yo u have options
#1- Vortex mod from tech-T paintball- I use this in all my guns and it's asesome. Just have to lube it every 4000 rds or so. #2 Lightning rod from tech-T- Works with the vortex replacing the plastic rod.. great performance #3- jet click from JCS. similar to the vortex.. I don't use it but I have heard good things about it. QEV- Many different types available all usually work Personally in my SAW I use vortex and lightning rod with a qev.. My gun will fire over 22 bps without chopping easily.. and no more broken ratchets. |

I suggest you try and get a replacement from Tippmann before spending the cash on the vortex. Unless you just want to be done with it.
The way yours broke is very odd, usually they just strip from use. That is crazy. Thanks for the heads up, Zeus...I didn't know you had to constantly grease the vortex. |

A whole lot of ratchets died at Gary's Field. I believe there was 4 casualties. So I repaired Ferals on Sunday that he broke at Practice.

UPDATE:
As many of you know, I have been busting a lot of paint lately. Well, after a Tech-T upgrade of the Cyclone, a replaced WAS board on my e-grip, and a new barrel.......a successfull test was performed last night. Two hoppers, 2-year-old cheap paint, full-auto....and not one single break. It was amazingly accurate, too. The paint hit within a 2-3 foot area, which is much better than what I have been doing. I think that after I get a top of the line barrel and I used decent paint, I will be even more accurate. There is only one concern remaining - after only shooting 2 hoppers, I used over 1K of air. That seems like a lot to me. I replaced all of the o-rings in my slide-check because it was leaking the last time I used it and it wasn't leaking after I was done. I'm just happy that my marker is working in time for MI. |

1,000 psi of air for 400 rounds in an A5 is where you should be. You will get about 800 rounds on a 68/3000 tank, and 1,200 on a 68/4500 tank.
So, glad to hear everything is working for you....finally. |
