My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
I've finally made a decision. Instead of buying the awsome sniper mod for my 98 custom, I'm building the parts I need to make it look like a AK-47.
I wish I had cherry to use though...but oh well. Any suggestions on how to build the stock? I'll post pic's as I progress.

Cool... Blacksheep has some experience with this type of project that might be useful. I however do not, so I will just wait for the photos.

Re: My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
What's your current setup? How do you want to attach the stock? I might be able to give suggestions depending on what exactly you're looking for. I will suggest Home Depot has hardwood boards for making stocks. I have some that will hopefully be turning into a M14 SOCOM scout rifle. Post up a pic of what you want to create and maybe I'll have some ideas for you. Expect to put some money in, though, even if it's on the cheap.

Re: My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
My setup? Its a typical stock Tippmann 98 Custom. (Though I plan on getting a 12 or 16 inch barrel for this)
I use a remote line so CO2 shouldn't get in the way of the stock, but since the stock is wooden I'm not sure how to attach it. I have all the spec's measured (as of today) and now I need to decide on type of wood. I'm thinking either oak or maple would be good and cheap, since in my town theirs about 30 saw mills. PLus since they're both hardwoods it should withstand a beating pretty well after treating, staining, polishing, etc... Sorry, I have no pics as to what I plan on it to look like. Perhaps I'll probably draw one up soon. I plan on having the wooden shroud to slip onto and lock onto the barrel somehow. The clip I plan on making out of wood and coating with a special metalic coating my dads company makes. Once again, the only thing I can't think of how to do is attach the stock.

Isn't it your dad who's company makes that anti-fog spray?

Re: My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
I'll ask my dad tonight. He might just decide to mail you a bottle for free.
Yeah, my dad and I use it. I'd say it works better than any of the sprays I've tried before. (7 different brands in total)

If it works well it would be easy to promote, everyone wants a good anti-fog product. We are building a strong brand being sponsored by MILSIM PRODUCTS and the UWL, so we should be able to get his product some great exposure. If he is interested I can email him a proposal. |

Re: My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
PM sent. Anyways, a friend of mine suggested using black walnut because of how strong it is, but I'm not sure I want to use something that dark for it.

Re: My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
That, and black walnut is expensive at least in my experience.

Re: My Tippmann MOD Decision (finally)
So I finally got some free time and worked on it a bit. Used pine for the fact that its easy to work with and I can get it for free.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The stock will be reenforced with a metal bar inserted into the wood and shaped to fit onto the gun. Once this part is done I'll work on the barrel assembly, then the clip.
