IA Drang Valley

Bio Hazard & Dog Soldiers are signing up for the Lost Platoon (supposedly the Lost Platoon was routed quickly in 2008 and that's a challenge we can't resist).

Come on ! You guys are great and we love runnin with yall

We need some payback after having our winning streak broke at MMG (don't even want to get going about how slanted that game was....payback)

Ia Drang
Since the BT game is so close to this event, anyone playing the BT game can play the IA DRANG game for a $5.00 field fee. Some of the pipes on Omaha will be gone next time you visit Battlefront. We will be using them back by the American LZ as spider holes and tunnels for the NVA Tunnel Rats. If you are an American or a VC, there will be booby traps set up explode when you hit the trip wire. They will be used to defend the Lost Platoon, the American LZ's, the VC spider holes and VC tunnels. Each team will also be issued a few to place....somewhere.
Artillery for the Lost Platoon will again be smoke grenades, but will be more accurate because they can be set off by pulling a string from inside the defensive perimeter. We'll use the ambulance to both Medivac wounded and return reinforcements to LZ X-Ray,(less walking-faster respawn) Green Berets will be available to counter NVA Sappers and maybe rescue the lost platoon, NVA can attack multiple objectives, American recon can try to capture NVA General Huu, VC will have "tunnels" they can use to pop up very close to American lines, at some point the lost platoon may try to fight there way out of the encirclement, etc.
In this expanded version, Americans will also be hiking across country in an attempt to reach LZ-Alpha...and the NVA will be in position to ambush them...unless General Huu is captured and forced to blab. This will be a GREAT battle! Oh yeah...when you pre-reg you can choose to join: US Army, Green Beret, Lost Platoon, NVA, NVA Sapper, NVA Tunnel Rat.

Dog Soldier 1, it's looking pretty good - so far that some of us will be attending this BFP scenario. We'll keep you posted.

Re: IA Drang Valley

Well... I have been trying to get a "Six man team" to head down to Professor Lumpy's in Ohio that same weekend. Right now I have one who has committed.
6 Man Team Challenge for $1,000 - Blackcat Paintball Productions Forums
(and you are all invited if you are interested PM me or Meatcircus and we can discuss)

If I can't get enough guys to go with me I will definitely be going to this BF game. I was a Sapper last year and was one of the ones who destroyed the Lost Platoon.
I should have my T9 by then and in need of targets!

Re: IA Drang Valley

Here are some new details from Dave:

Quote:
The IA DRANG Order of Battle details for the entire day will be up tonight. Because of the movie "We Were Soldiers" a lot is known about what happened at LZ X-Ray. Here are some of the details for the second phase of our event concerning November 17, 1965 and LZ Albany.
1. Americans will leave LZ X-Ray in two columns on a Search and Destroy mission heading to LZ Albany. At least 10 NVA flag positions will block their way and must be found and destroyed. 2. Green Berets, with information on the possible location of the NVA General, will go in one direction searching for him. Lt. Col. Hal Moore will lead the second group in another direction towards LZ Albany. 3. NVA General will be heavily defended by ALL NVA Sappers and Tunnel Rats, booby traps, RPGs, trip mines, etc. If the Green Berets can find and capture him in 30 minutes, they will receive information on the location of ALL NVA flag positions between them and LZ Albany. 4. If not captured, the NVA General will escape and head for LZ Albany, and the Americans will be compelled to find the NVA positions. Hence Search and Destroy. 5. NVA will know the positions of their flags. When a flag falls or when an NVA is hit in combat, he will fall back to any remaining flag position and prepare to defend it. 6. After the NVA General is either captured or escapes, the Green Berets and Hal Moore can link up or operate as two independent forces attempting to capture the NVA flag positions. 7. Final battle will be to secure LZ Albany. Americans will have about 3 hours to accomplish the mission.....more details to follow.
Problem I see is that all the teams have signed up for US side, adding NEOSMUT is going to make it even more lop-sided isn't it?

Re: IA Drang Valley

I am already planning on making this one. I still have to pre-reg but I have the night off so I can play all day.

I dont know which side I will take (NVA, or USA) But it looks like I dont need to pick that until day off, its not part of the prereg questions.

Respectfully disagree.

From speaking with Dave (BattleFront co-owner) they are very much aware that a lot of organized teams have signed up U.S.

but in this game that adds to the realism

They're cutting the ratios to give a HUGE advantage to the NVA side numerically...much like the real battle, the more skilled side (U.S.) was heavily outnumbered. In 2008 the U.S. LOST this game

You'll miss the fun by joining the NVA...the fun, the challenge of being outnumbered

And if you join the Lost Platoon with Dog Soldiers you'll spend the first 2 hours and 30 minutes of the game outnumbered, encircled, with one assignment....hold the ground till the break horn sounds. 2 hours and 30 minutes...last year Lost Platoon held 30 minutes...We joined Lost Platoon for 2009 when we learned that....how can that kind of challenge be resisted
