That delta modification is pretty sweet looking.
The Rip Clip thing.... that has been held up forever it seems like. I saw it in APG a few months ago & I really thought it was a good idea but it is HUGE on the marker. |

Re: For BT owners, I know this is a mostly Tippman crowd...
Yes, but is that good or bad. With a cyclone I know when my cyclone will stop working...(when I only have 15 shots left in my tank). Also the cyclone can at least be manually operated via the plunger, which has save me many a time. As for it being battery operated...I want to see how easy it is to replace.
And it also looks huge..which is why they show the delta without the hopper and feed because it looks just like an mp5...which sells it. I would buy it. Replace the the hugified hopper with a tac-cap, which looks like it would fit, if not build my own.

Re: For BT owners, I know this is a mostly Tippman crowd...
I also found someone quoting this about the rip clip. I have been able to confirm(From what I could find) all but the last highlighted option about to board
"For the uneducated and uninformed, the Rip Clip is no where near the inferior design of the cyclone. a) the cyclone bolts on to the side of the marker, while the Rip Clip easily slides on the top picatinny rail and locks in place. b) the cyclone is powered by excess air released during the "firing" cycle. The Rip Clip is a Halo B motorized force feed system proven by Halo under Tourny conditions. It is electric and the motor is sound activated. You won't get the chops or the "paint pudding" like in a cyclone. c. If you do get an odd break in the barrel, just slide the Rip Clip back, pull a squeegee through and slide it back in place. No worries and done in the field. You can't do that with a cyclone. d. To support players in the TPPL, the hopper motor excepts A5 style hoppers such as the std A5 hopper, the TAC hopper, and the new X7 hopper as well. (OK, I'll give you that it allows acceptance of A5 hoppers) e. Optional board updates will be available I'm sure. Darn they copied the Cyclone again, wait - NO BOARD in the Cyclone."

LOL - those reasons are so retarded.
How is it good that it takes batteries? What happens when your battery dies during a game? Not to mention everyone I know HATES the Halo. It is a battery hog and it breaks way too often. Everyone is moving on to the Viewloader hoppers which are much more reliable. |

Re: For BT owners, I know this is a mostly Tippman crowd...
I'm a BT Warrior forum member and yes, you'll get that kind of rubbish there once in awhile, but these are the facts I know.
1. It takes the same hoppers as a cyclone 2. It is a Halo B Rip drive (so manual operation is available) 3. It's sound activated and provides constant feed force What isn't known 1. Slide away- not sure looks like a bolt on unit from the pics 2. Will it accept upgrade boards? not sure To end a dispute- maybe ![]() A5s fill a niche that BT's don't- really they are probably the best MP5 style marker on the market and the hopper is novel and relatively reliable as long as it's maintained and tuned. BT's fill a different niche the M4 style which they were originally designed for. Over time they have diversified their add-ons and components and now to complement the e-grip they have a specialized hopper. Both markers have pros and cons, and both luckily accept many of the same components, so as consumers we'll have a large market of parts to choose from which ultimately benefits us. I plan on getting the Rip Clip around Christmas so if nobody has one by then I'll write a review and if there's another practice people can check it out. I do get sick however of the whole Tippman vs BT issue. Really we should be happy that there is good market competition to drive prices down. |

Re: For BT owners, I know this is a mostly Tippman crowd...
Consider my comment on the whole "Battery powered cyclone" thing more of an observation, rather than a snide comment. I have kind of a love/hate relationship with my cyclone... on one hand, it works great, I've never had an operaing issue with it, but the thing is just kinda clunky and inconvienient at times.
And I have yet to experience this "Paint pudding" you refer to, phiber... I have a stock cyclone, and have not once broken a ball in the thing. |

Re: For BT owners, I know this is a mostly Tippman crowd...
A Bt Warrior member uploaded the manual for the Rip Clip so here's an update:
Runs on 4AAs with a screw on battery cover. Has three preset speeds for the feed. Stock unit holds 200+ paintballs Feed rate is up to 20+ bps Auto off in 1 hour Low battery indicator

Re: For BT owners, I know this is a mostly Tippman crowd...
Isn't BT. & Tippman pretty much the same gun with a few cosmetic differences? I own both. I like them both. I mostly use my 98 cuz of the flatline barrel but they look the same to me. Then I've never taken them apart. I just assumed they were the same. No?

The markers are identical for the most part, as is the PCS US*5. However, the one design aspect that Tippmann was able to patent was the cyclone feed. So this left all the Tippmann clones desperately searching for a way to compete with such an innovative products (think 17 BPS with absolutely no batteries to change and it is offset, brilliant). Ben Tippmann was one of the companies most innovative engineers before he parted ways and started BT. He has taken that ingenuity with him and come out with some nice products. Until the X7 e-grip came out BT had the better e-grip of the markers and the Apex is a really ingenious adaptation of the Flatline for ballers who like that effect. However, this Halo version of the cyclone really falls short in my book. True the cyclone has the problem with the ratchet, but once you upgrade that one component the system is flawless. It takes up very little space, requires no batteries, gives you a line of view down the marker, offers a low profile, feeds as you shoot & is capable of well over 17 BPS (I have seen reports of 22+ with the right upgrades). I think the cyclone is a nearly perfect product, so it is no surprise that the Halo version isn't nearly as good. But if you are a BT user it will probably end up being a really good alternative to an expensive loader sticking way up in the air & it will allow you to use Tac Caps which are awesome training tools. Someone correct me if I mis-spoke on any of my facts (the opinions you can try to correct but I am [literally] stubborn as a mule, so good luck). |
