Tank Talk Thread

I heard a bit of grumbling at the team practice about a possible tank? Figured we all could talk shop about building tanks and or the logistical side of transporting/maintaining/licensing(insuring) a tank.

I don't know much about the logistics, but if I had the resources I'd use a U-haul to transport the tank and maybe get a summer weekend insurance plan?

As far as building (sound of knuckles cracking) I was an engineer for 5 years and have many resources. Personally if I were to build on I would use and old hydrostatic lawn mower as a base and try and work it into a miniaturized piece of kit like the following:

Re: Tank Talk Thread

Hey Blacksheep, this subject is kind of a thorn for most of us, because we have gone from a golf cart driven tank to a full size suv as the tank. The problem with the suv is that it would need to be transported to the fields, and no one has a trailer. In addition, the suv would need to be stored somewhere. Again, no one has any place to work on or store the vehicle.

However, this doesn't mean we are not open to new and more ideas.

Re: Tank Talk Thread

So really there are two problems, storage and transport. Are you guys set on using the SUV? I can understand the 4WD capability and probably the comfort level is a plus. Has it been converted highly? ie. Is it going to alert the local sheriff driving it work How much has it been/will it be used? Just wondering.

It would be easy to answer all these if you only had access to the specific tank thread. I cannot go into detail right now, got to go put the kids to sleep and stuff, but maybe someone else can answer these...
