Question Question for everyone....

Since really none of us were into paintball when it really first started, and kind of jumped on board as the sport grew, it got me thinking about something.

If you could ask a "pioneer" of paintball anything, what would it be?

For me, I'd be curious to know the evolution of the air powering or markers. I remember playing with my old Splatmaster pistol with the 12 gram Co2 cartridges, then when I stepped back into a number of years later, there's all this Co2...HPA...Nitro talk. Just leaves me kind of curious about the evolution of the marker designs and how the air supplies developed with them.

Anyone have any other questons they've wondered about?

(Note: I'm not looking for answers here, just questions and things like that. My reasons for this will all be revealed in the near future. Mwuh hahahahaha!! )

I remember when the markers were 8 to 10 round pump markers that only took the 12gram cartridges, and the barrel was only 4 to 8 inches in length. The crazy thing was, we only wore an industrial type goggle when playing. That meant no facemask or any pads, or gloves to speak of. My question is, what was the primary driving factor of personal protection? Was it the insurance industry, or was it the players wanting to get hurt less? Does that question make any sense RedMonkey?

Makes perfect sense GM... thanks for the post. I've actually wondered that myself. Hell, we used to play with NO face protection... I can't even imagine that now. That's just crazy.

I'd like to know when chrono-ing came about and who decided what velocity would be safe? Do you think they set up guys and shot at them till they said "that doesn't hurt as much?"

If they would let me I would play with just goggles. I have been shot in the lip 3 times and it hurts but I hate fogging.

Sorry, I know this isn't a question...so I should think of a question.

"I have heard that it was originally thought semi-auto markers would ruin the sport of paintball. And down the line as they became mainstream, it was electronic markers that would ruin the sport, and now it is ramping.

Do you feel this has ruined the sport in any way? If you could, would you go back and see to it that semi-auto markers were never developed (if you had this power)? If you played today would you take advantage of enhanced firing modes, i.e. ramping/full auto? Are players who choose not to use electronics in their markers at a disadvantage?"

What prompted you to want to nail your friends with paint? Was it as a training aid for law enforcement or military? Did it evolve out of a way to play capture the flag (or another game) and do something a little more definate than simply tagging the person?

I also like the other questions about the evolution of the sport, if it has lost its meaning in the high tech markers we have today?

I don't know what you are planning on doing with these questions RM, but a lot of them were answered in last months APG when they interviewed one of the two guys who created paintball (Charles Gaines). Just a heads up, disregard if it is not realevant to what you are doing.

What type/style/brand of marker do you prefer in the present compared to what you used in the past? Why?

What style of play (scenario, speedball, outlaw, etc) do you prefer in the present as compared to how you played in the past? Why?

I would like to know when did the schism of woodsball and speedball happen. The two sports are so different now. Speed ball is all about who can get the best angle and shoot the most pain.

Woodsball is... scenario ball. Woodsball is serious strategy over vast distances. Woodsball is Camo. Woodsball is Tactical. Woodsball is SWAT, POLICE, ARMY, MARINES, NAVY, AIRFORCE, FANTASY, SCIFI, and anyother thing you can think of.

Why is'nt there more coverage of woodsball. I hope Opsgear's show takes off.
