Re: Hey

Yeah, the posts on the stock that the pushpins slide thru, the top one cracked in half! Last years WaW was my first time using my e-grip, I bent both pins pretty good from the rear bolt slamming into the stocks back plate. The backplate itself was pretty banged up too. I purchased some stainless steel pins from Lowe's & they've held up great, plus I installed a rubber washer on the plate to help alleviate some of the stress. I've shot probably 4 cases since then w/ no problems, but I noticed at one point shortly after break that my stock seemed loose... now I know why. I had been putting off getting the newer rear bolt w/ the plastic insert to minimize the impact on the rear plate, that just moved to number one on my list of purchases! I'll post up pics of the damaged part on the S.O. Forums in the hopes they can send me a new one, the only problem is they stopped making the original aluminum version so I'm pretty certain the new composite version isn't contructed of individual pieces like mine. I'll just have to see if they have any aluminum pieces still around.

Sorry the welcoming party is pretty light here in the Introductions forum for some reason, lol.

Your post is interesting because I want to get some steel pins for my stock on my A5. The pins keep breaking from stress.

I never thought of swapping out the bolt, is that why the new ones have the plastic piece in the middle of them?

Can you point me to the steel pins that you found worked for the A5? They have a cotter pin on the other side or how did you do that part? I wish I had looked closer at the game.

Re: Hey

This is a pic of one of the stainless steel pins I purchased from Lowe's & what happened to the back plate post. The pin is a little long so I've been thinking lately about drilling a new hole for the ring & cutting it down some, just haven't gotten around to it. This was the shortest they had in the 1/4" dia. which is what the A-5/X7 push pins are. I bent (they looked like boomarangs) the 2 original pins that first WaW after only 500 rounds & I broke one of those this past week while test firing. These new SS ones look brand new, not even the slightest mark on the surface.

I'm not sure if this is why they started producing the rear bolt w/ the plastic insert. But, my cousin has a newer A-5 that has the newer bolt & he has yet to have even the slightest mark in his stock push pins w/ his APE E-grip after about three cases. Our friend, who was also at BF w/ us, has a newer X7 w/ an e-grip & his pins are in perfect shape too, but he's only had about a case thru his.

Tech-T has also started producing that "Zero Kick" rear bolt that's much lighter than the stock version. I haven't looked at it close enough, so I'm not sure if it has a plastic insert or if it's all aluminum.

As far as the welcome... no problem man, I posted late last night & I assume most members are working during the day so they can't post (fortunately I'm working from home today -- still resting my muscles )

Donating to CPB actually helps NEOSMUT because many of the NEOSMUT team members have been paying to run CPB in addition to our team site. Thanks for asking.
