TX Rabbitt Introduction

Howdy all,
I am new to this forum and I would first like to thank NEOSMUT for allowing me and other paintballers the opportunity to network and communicate on a common ground.

I am TX Rabbitt, yes as you may have guessed I am from Texas, South Texas to be more exact. I live in a small area on the outskirts of San Antonio and Floresville. Most people have never heard of Graytown, unless you are from that area.
The Rabbitt is kind of a call sign, I was given the name by a teammate of mine who claims that I play like a rabbit. Quiet and stealthy until the paint starts to fly.

I have been playing paintball for just under a year and have been hooked on it since day one. Famous last words to my wife "Honey, you better hope I don't enjoy playing." Well obviously I did and I haven't looked back.

I am currently running with a Tippmann A-5. Not my first marker, but the one I have wanted since I started. My first maker was a spyder xtra. My thoughts were, let me get my technique and tactics down first then I can look at getting a better marker. Well as I was fortunate enough to have found a deal too good to pass up. I am now the proud owner of an A-5.

My first choice of fields is my own. We get together and play on my 5 acre property and have been doing well with it and a change of venue every once in a while. We are in the process of building some bunkers and banks to add some challenges to the area. We purchased sand bags and now that the weather is cooling off, we will be bunker building shortly.

Thank you again.
TX Rabbitt

Hey Rabbit,

It is really great that you found the website. That is exactly what we are trying to do is build a community for Woodsballer's to talk shop as well as view some great, high quality content.

Greetings from Cleveland, OH. I had a friend near Houston and I know Jax has family in Texas but I am not sure where.

I too am an A5 user and I absolutely love it. There are a lot of great markers out there but for me the A5 really does the job well.

On a side note: how did you find us?

Welcome txrabbit. What brought you to our Internet-part of the world? However you got here, I'm glad you stopped by and said hello. Do you have a team or organization down where you live, or do you guys keep it real low key?

Have you done any modifications to your A-5 yet, or have you kept it stock?

Do you go to any big scenario/milsim games?

Again, welcome to our forum, feel free to start threads and chat with us.

Take care,

Ghostman

Welcome to our community! It's really cool to see other players from areas outside of our own (Cleveland, OH). If you don't mind me asking - were you referred to our site, or did you find us on the net?

Thanks again for joining and get your fello paintballers involved on the site too!

Later!

Much thanks

I want to thank you all for such a warm welcome. To answer a few of ya'lls questions:
I found your site by means of a search on the Spec Ops forum. I was searching for information on tactics and hand signals (that almost doesn't sound right). N E way, I still have yet to look at the hand signals article, I just have a lot of stuff going on.

I have some modifications on my a-5. Actually I got a deal from a buddy of mine that was too good to pass up. (Short story) I got him into playing paintball, but then he has some other stuff to do so he offered me the first chance to buy his equipment from him..... Here is what I got:

A-5 with M-4 stock and 14in Smart Parts barrel.
1- 12 oz CO2 tank
1-20 oz CO2 tank
Spyder harness
4+1 belt.
and a couple of pods...

the most amazing thing is the price I got it at....hold on to your seats boys.....
a very cheap $175. He knew and I knew how much of a cut he was taking, but he was just that hard up for cash....

Awesome, I got a very similar deal on an A5.

A5
Flatline
2 stock barrels w/ adapters
2 expansion chambers
drop forward
standard adapter
remote
20 oz co2
pods/harness
2 hoppers

Total cost - $170. So very similar to your deal. It is amazing what you can get used if you are patient! But deals like ours are very rare.

Make sure you check back on the hand signals. We took some more photos to finish them up and will post them in the future when we get time (or when RodentX gets time - lol).

I am in the process of looking into an expansion chamber for my a-5. nothing fancy, just a stock one would probably be fine. I am not really big on looks, mostly functionality.
Any suggestions on an expansion chamber?

Personally, I would save up for an HPA system. This way you can play all year round. Well, you may anyways due to where you live, but up in our part of the world, it gets a bit cold.

My store will be selling Dead On and Palmers Persuit parts real soon. If you want to wait on the expansion chamber, you can check back in a couple weeks.

I have the x-chamber with my HPA just because I didn't want to redo the hoses on my gun after I got HPA. I don't know that it did much good, but it was already on the marker so I left it. It is just something to make my marker look a little different.

I think you should use the money for an x-chamber and get HPA instead. Better results.

Well I have seen the x-chamber as low as $25. That really isn't a big deal. But I do appreciate the suggestion. I am up to 5 CO2 tanks now so I really wouldn't like to switch, not to mention that there are vew places around here where I can get a refill on HPA. Now I can just head on over to the Academy in San Antonio on my way home from work and fill up there. With HPA I have to drive 45 min out of the way just to get a refill... not to cost effective right now...
I guess if I was just starting out and didn't have all the equipment I already own, I would probably consider it.

No, you are right - it doesn't make sense for you to get HPA. In that case I would get either an expansion chamber or a regulator.

Welcome to the site Rabbit!

Yeah, after reading the thread here, I would think an Expansion Chamber would probably be one of the better upgrades you can get for the marker to improve shot to shot consistency with C02, expecially if you do a lot of rapid fire.

I'm not sure what SmartParts barrel you are using, but if it can seperate into two pieces, you can easily get a Freak Back and inserts to match the paint to the bore size of the individual sized back inserts to improve some accuracy on a shot to shot basis. I believe this can improve on your air consumption a well by not bleeding so much air out around the ball in the barrel since the bore would match better.

Another option for barrel bore size matching on the A-5 is the J&J Edge Kit like Fets has, which he's been pretty happy with. I like the Flatline on the A-5 myself, with the no-arc trajectory on the shot, so there are a lot of options with barrels to make that A-5 a pretty bad ass marker.

If you consider looking into the Expansion Chamber or any of the barrels, or any other A-5 mods, drop Ghostman and PM or put a post up in the MilSimProducts.com section of the forum. He's got connectio with all the latest and slickest mods for the A-5, and he's been like Monty Hall with the "Let's Make a Deal" stuff lately, so I'm sure you'll be pretty happy with what he can offer.

Also, if you have any pix of paintball TX style, be sure to upload them into the photo section. I'm sure we'd all love to see where you're playing down there! Since you're in Texas, have you considered going to the Oklahoma D-Day scenario in the summers? From what I've read, it looks pretty intense!

I appreciate the help. I am still looking into many mods, but I personally like my current setup, except for the x-chamber. I will definately drop ya'll a line when the time comes.

As far as posting Pics, I will be sure to do that. There is a group of guys that I play with occasionally. I kind of lost touch with them for a little while, but I am back in the group again. Now the group is up to 25 people now and a couple of other locations.
Next time we get together I will post pics of the group, plus pics of our normal 2 on 2 group that play at my place.

Well to be honest with you, I have not ventured out too far into the fields in our area. there are about 4 commercial fields that are available, but I have yet to attend. But I do plan on getting out more as the time comes...
