Re: SCA (Medieval Reenactment)
It's a global organization. It's fun and runs by the honor system. Besides, it's pretty safe. ( www.sca.org )
Most people build there own armor, with the help of armorers. The armor I'm currently building, not including the helmet, will cost me about $200, about $300 if you include helmet cost. It sounds expensive, yes, but it's not a reaccuring cost. A good set of armor will last years with only minimum repairs. There is a part in the sca website to look for groups near you. You may want to check this out to (along with the discussion area): www.armourarchive.org Trust me, you WILL have the willpower to stop beating someone when their dead, cause if you don't, more than likely the next person you fight is bigger, stronger, and better than you and will lay you out with one swing. (Seen it happen to a 300 pound man). One of the people in this area used to be a lineman for the Oilers. He's huge.
