Pentagon Poll
Pentagon's website has a poll up, looking for visitors to vote on which play style they like best. The poll changes from time to time, but the results dictate what direction they take the field, as far as new layouts, product, etc.
So if you don't mind, pay a visit to thier website and make your vote. You don't have to sign up or anything, and it'll help prove that Scenario/Woodsball is far superior to Speedball/Balloonball Thanks! www.pentagonpaintball.com |

Re: Pentagon Poll
I'd like to see a UWL field in 2010. I voted woodsball.

Re: Pentagon Poll
Honestly, if they are going to do a UWL field, the poll votes are whats going to swing it.
I've brought it up a couple times, and I think he's hesitant because of the speedball business he does. But it's not because he likes speedball more. Naturally, he's hesitant to put all the work into building a specifically woodsball type field if it's not going to get used. The 'Urban Jungle' field has so far been a success, but there are still a good group of players there who prefer the balloons and hypertubes. The 'Back 40' is where we've been playing the scenario games, and it has a lot of potential. |

Re: Pentagon Poll
Well he has to make a smart decision from a business standpoint. If he has a good reputation for speedball then he doesn't want to alienate that portion of the client base.
For him to really get the woodsball crowd out there he needs a variety of true woodsball fields, something like what Pinnacle does. And I would think maybe consider running two separate groups on Sunday: Woodsball games | Speedball games. What I mean is, I don't like to go to a field and have 50% of the games be speedball. I am going to end up sitting those out and not maximizing my time on the field shooting paint. Now if there is 40 pounds of pork setting next to me that is fine, lol... but in general the true woodsballers are not going to enjoy waiting for the speedball games. The challenge is dividing up the players, you have to have enough of a turn out to do it. Maybe almost run woodsball games all day (with more fields) and then allow people who want to play speedball to hit those fields. However, after my one trip there I am not sure this thinking really aligns with the way they run the field. Also that one woodsball field needs to have the boundries pushed out so you can actually flank around! Again, most likely the majority of his customers prefer to play speedball in the woods and are scared of being flanked. They like the tight boundries where they can just focus on throwing paint. If that is what most of his customers want you don't want to turn them away to another field trying to make a smaller group that doesn't live in the immediate area happy. ??? |

Re: Pentagon Poll
Most of the customers that show up, at least on Sundays, are casual players and would play either. At least thats what I've noticed.
There are maybe 15-30 people that show up from week to week and are hard core speedballers, and play on the pentagon speedball team. Since we started doing the Scenaro Sundays every other week, it seems like the scenario thing is catching on. The last Sunday we had it, there were 98 people on count, and I believe we had 50 participate in the scenario. So I think we're evenly matched as far as where interest lies on the field. When you were there, Fets, I believe you played on the old fort field. That's the one where we were planning our attack before the start of the game, and had a couple of the speedballers tell us "oh, we don't go in the woods"... The area that we played in occupies about a quarter of the property thats available. Some structures built up on the field, using the old fort as possibly one of the HQ postions in a UWL formated field would be ideal. I'm thinking by the end of the summer we'll have recruited enough woodsball interest there at Pentagon to make it worth while. |
