Spyder MR1
After July 2nd I decided I had borrowed/rented equipment long enough and I was ready to buy my own gun. I debated over buying a tippmann carbine (im old school) or an A5. Fets and I got to talking one day and he mentioned the MR series from spyder.
I bought a used MR1 for a really good price and the only damage done to it was the grips were a little worn. I finally got around to taking some pictures of it last night. I uploaded them in the photo section.
First impressions - the gun is like a tank which was a big selling feature. It feels like I am holding a gun. It is purely mechanical and I stripped it down completely for the first time in less than 20 minutes. Taking the bolt out takes all of 30 seconds. It also is 'loud'. I don't think people will have a problem finding where I am on the field. This weekend I am going to try and find a place to shoot a few rounds.
The only bad thing was I couldn't get my head behind the sights with the stock the way it came. I did a little modifying and things work out great now.

Man, that thing looks great! I like the stock sawed off like that, just need to smooth it so it doesn't scratch your lens. It looks really good overall, that barrel is a nice touch to it.

Have you had an opportunity to use it much yet? I am considering getting one, and want to know what you think of it and how you like it after some use. They seem like a really good value.

I used it at the last battlefront scenario game and it worked awesome. It kept up with as fast as I could shoot and really had a great feel to it.
I liked most about it that it felt like I was holding a rifle, not a paintball gun. I love taking it apart too - very simple design and very easy to break apart. The bolt comes out with one simple pull pin and the spring assembly with another.
Even with CO2 I was having a lot of success long balling people from accross the field. I was surprised at how accurate it was with just a simple upgraded barrell.
Other than the drawbacks I mentioned before (stock) it really is a fantastic deal. It shot as good as some of the other guns I have shot before.
I should mention it gets a lot of bad press about the ball detent shearing off - well if you don't know what you are doing and put the bolt in backwards I GUARENTEE you will have this problem. But if you put it together correctly you will not have a problem that I can tell. It's not that difficult at all to make sure it goes in correctly I just think people rush through it and then blame the gun that they messed it up.
It is a very well constructed gun for a great price.

ive had my mr1 for 4-5months now. its reliable fairly accurate , and like you said built like a tank. now with practice i can completely feild strip , clean it and reasemble in under 7 mins.
i also sawed off the top of the stock. it is still realy sturdy( and it still smells funny) . by the end of the new years eve game i have had 67 kills with it.
i rate it 9 out of 10 in the semi catagory.

Why would you make a claim like this? You have no way to prove it and I don't believe it to be true, to be honest.

Personally, I really hate the practice of counting individual kills and detahs in paintball. Bottom line...regardless of kills... did the team win... if yes, cool, if no, then it sucks.
