Also just bought a case of Formula 13 for D-Day, and sent my Compressed Air tank out to get pressure tested. (So I can't even fire my new toy yet )

Re: Getting a Phenom...
One final thing... yeah I'm a link Nazi. Flasc also makes this. YouTube - Flasc Paintball Milsim barrel Kit Into! I think I might go for this over a hammerhead. Just sayin.
Also, getting one of these. |

Never heard of Flasc, but TechT makes an excellent cyclone kit, not sure who told you otherwise but I would question that. I personally have the TechT installed in my A5.

I don't know that it matters, but people say they are more accurate. I don't think anyone on the team uses Hammerhead barrels, we all have straight bore barrel kits. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Fets,
I saw a number of posts claiming that TechT wasn't very good. (not saying it isn't) When I discovered FLASC they had nothing but positive reviews and hearing that their customer service was excellent was a plus. We'll see how it handles once I get all my parts. |

I like it better than the JCS, which I have installed for a few guys and both of those are better than the RAP4 which guys have had trouble with. None of us have tried the Lapco those just came out recently and like I said never heard of FLASC. It shouldn't matter it is a simple part, the only time you have trouble is if they aren't made to high tolerances then you have trouble installing them (rap4). And anything is better than the plastic one that breaks. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Alright cool, and yeah I heard Rap4's stuff is just overdecorated garbage. I'm staying away from them aside from the vest I bought. If you want when I get the parts I can bring them by and you can take a look if you like? Or was thinking I'd host a practice game probably next weekend, on Sunday(5/16). Hopefully I'll have all my stuff then, and we can just go rock Pinnacle Woods for a day.

Re: Getting a Phenom...
First game with the phenom
Well I learned a lot today. I totally field stripped my marker because it wouldn't fire more than 3 balls, without breaking, then got it working again after replacing the battery... ( which I just put in last week). We ended up narrowing it down to my remote wire (made by pure energy) was being really inconsistant, I'm not sure if that is the case however. The owner remembered to tell me I should be using premium paint because the flatline barrel really is meant for smaller caliber... gee thanks after I bought a case... Hopefully I can get a better response from you guys at D-Day if it's still being a pain in the ass. On a side note, the parts I have installed are working better than I had imagined. The vortex feeder upgrade is disguuuusting, it worked great the whole day..

Re: Getting a Phenom...
If you are still chopping, take out the non standard upgrades you put in. Jax got a different bolt inside his X7 and it caused him to break a ton of paint at DotR. Air constituency with a remote line or the flatline shouldn't be a big deal. Its only the flatline if you are breaking paint inside the actual barrel. In front of the cyclone is the bolt or internal upgrades, and inside the cyclone is the actual cyclone having an issue.

Re: Getting a Phenom...
I manually turned the cyclone with the piston, it seems to be damn near perfect.. I tried to get the bottom squishy out because the D in the middle where the bolt comes up seems to slip up sometimes and turn without actually turning the cyclone. The only issue is the alan key bolt they used to put it in there is stripped out for some unknown reason and now I can't get the damn thing out again. So... I'm thinking I f'd that up. But other than that I can't quite figure out what's going on with the gun. It fires fine for awhile but about every 4-5 balls it chops one... and I have no idea what the deal is. This is also happening on the standard barrel as well. It's very frustrating.

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Definitely not your remote causing you to break paint, it may cause other issues but not that generally. One of the reasons we got frustrated with Pinnacle is that their field paint is terrible, and to use it with a flatline is just going to cause frustration probably.
The flatline is picky with paint, not just with the size but also with how brittle the shell is because the paint is under a lot of additional stress in the flatline. If the remote nipple has the smaller diameter hole that can cause problems and will need to be drilled out or have an o-ring placed under it. That is something we can quickly diagnose at D-Day and isn't a big deal. I would bet that your issues are the result of Pinnacle's field paint and your flatline. A better barrel and better paint should resolve them hopefully, maybe just better paint. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
The fact that it happens with your stock barrel probably speaks to it being bad paint. It is hard without looking at the gun, is there any paint in the cyclone or back by the bolt or was it all breaking in the barrel?
If barrel it is definitely the paint. If you have some left try doing a drop test, you should be able to drop it on a hard surface from your mid torso and it should bounce. Assuming you are not a giant or anything. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
No there's paint all the way up in the cyclone too... I might need some help putting the old plastic piece back in at dday... not the actual ratched but just the gear pin the paddles rest on. I must have stripped out the alan bolt that holds them in by accident and I tried for about an hour to yank it out and I just couldn't get a grip on it. Still works though from what I can tell, just would rather replace the shitty squishies with a more durable paddle. I'm not sure how to explain it but since the D bolt that goes up through the paddles is steel, and the paddles are a flimsy rubber... they slide around the D and get unaligned. :S

The problem with replacing that shaft is that the entire ratchet assembly utilizes it to stay together, so it is a project. Something you probably don't want to wait until the day of a game to do. If you are replacing the shaft you could just dremel off the screw on the top, or drill it out. That is really unfortunate that it stripped out. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
This is on your phenom, right?
If you've screwed up some of the parts, Tippman might be nice and send you a replacement for free, especially if it's brand new. I owned a flatline for a while. It did not like high end paint at all. The expensive stuff ius usually more brittle for use in tournys with the high end markers that are really gentle on paint. I'd say his advise on the paint quality was bogus. Check the end of your bolt where it comes in contact with the paint. There have been plenty of comments over on the X7OG forums where that bolt had sharp edges where it can in contact with paint, and people were getting barrel breaks. And as far as your cyclone goes, return it to stock and see if the problem is still there. I run my Phenom all stock with a J&J edge kit. No issues at all with it. |
