Getting a Phenom...
MilSim Products - RAP4 - Tippmann X7 Sidewinder Sniper Paintball Gun Kit
If, everything goes as planned I should be at Synergy with my brand new Phenom, I found this sniper add-on (which I may or may not get right away)... If not I'll have my crappy Spyder-Fenix which I hate, I bought it out of the desire to stop renting guns... but didn't have enough to purchase the A-5 at the time. Now 5 years later, I have the cash, possibly a team if you'll have me, and a reason to buy a new gun. Nothing breaks simulation more than bright blue, and chrome. Yuck. Anyhow What do you guys think about that mod kit? Can I do better on price, or? I'd really like to bring up the rear with some good sniping. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Just an FYI:
This is just for the upgrade and not the Phenom itself. Also, the link you have posted is for a regular X7. You are getting a Phenom. I have found out that the X7 and the X7 Phenom are not the same. I almost bought a Phenom mod for my X7 and it is not compatible. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Cosmetically that upgrade is cool, but operator wise- I don't know how useful it'll be. Optimum paintball barrel length is 10-14" IIRC, the scope is 9x magnification which means you'll see things you can't hit with the paintball gun. A better fit might be a barrel length closer to the above, and a scope in the 1-4x range.
If you like the look though, just go for it!

Re: Getting a Phenom...
I agree with BS.
I would get the Standard Phenom and then upgrade parts later. Also, a lot of us have had bad luck with RAP4. Every sinlge one of my RAP4 parts have fallen apart. The only thing that seems worth anything, is the vest. Just some advice, but it's YOUR marker. |

Hm, maybe I'll just get the gun first. Worry about all the add-ons after we wreck some house at dday?

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Hey spooky,
6 of the guys on my team rock the phenom, and we have minimal issues. Everyone loves it. As far as the upgrades go, I'm gonna have to agree with BS (lol) That barrel is way too long for anything other than poking it through walls and bushes. Get a barrel kit of some sort that'll let you pick the size based on the paint you are using for the day. Something I noticed playing this weekend: I have an air thru stock, which I love because it gets the remote out of the way of your shooting hand. But I ran into issues getting pinned behind a bunker and my marker being to long to wield and still stay safely behind the bunker. See you at D-Day |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Well, I'm officially a Phenom owner. Had to take the tank to get it pressure tested, and it should be back within a couple weeks. Which leads me to ask, should we go over to Pinnacle on a Sunday before D-Day and show 'em what's up?

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Okay, I know that sniper barrel was probably silly. So Jax told me to check out hammerhead.
Will this work? YouTube- Hammerhead barrel link system

Re: Getting a Phenom...
That's freakin hilarious! I'd suggest either the Hammerhead system, the J&J barrel system or possibly a Lapco with a Python system.

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Hahaha, Thought you guys would love that. Yeah, gonna wait a bit and save up some money for all the crap I want. Though there is a cyclone system RAP4 makes ...which makes me wonder if I should get it to decrease ball breakage and speed up my shots.

Re: Getting a Phenom...
Don't get the RAP4 cyclone kit get the TechT one or the JCS. You don't need to spend the money on the Hammerhead in my opinion, most the guys on the team use the J&J Edge Kit (including myself).
You should make the cyclone upgrade your very first purchase for your phenom, where did you get the phenom, new or used? After that I would be sure to get a tac vest if you don't have one. Avoid the RAP4 clearance sale they are bad camo patterns. |

Re: Getting a Phenom...
![]() Just got done cranking that new barrel out of my x7. Put a flatline in for now until I can get a hammerhead system I really want. Cyclone will be my next upgrade, I was going to order it today but their captcha security image is broken and it wont let me order the damn thing. So that will be next. Seen two of them though one from FLASC, and the other is from Lapco. Heard very good reviews on both systems though techT seems to be shoddy and unreliable. |
