no problem on the pics..

It's a home mod I did. You take a A-5 flatline shroud.. cut it down to size and it fits perfectly over an apex barrel nice and tight with a tiny bit of sanding of the apex front sight.. fits nice and tight.. you can still turn the apex if you want but yes you loose the ability to change settings real quick. i don't turn mine or change my settings ever. 3 clicks back and it shoots straight and far so I leave it right there always. I painted the shroud with ultra flat paint to get rid of the glossy finish on the flatline shroud. Worked out real nice.

It's an g36 stock for an A-5. I had to mod it to fit on my X7. The x7 mods are due out in a week and 1/2 or so i was told. But they pushed back the E-grip until may/june. which sucks.

However i have seen a tippmann/spec ops g-36 stock and i was far form impressed with it. I much rather stick with using opsgear stocks jmpo.

Thanks for the comments.

trying to finish up my MK 46 mod 0 SAW kit now.

How did you modify the stock to fit the X7?

This bullshit with Tippmann not releasing the accessories for months and the egrip for months and months is what caused me not to get an X7.

It is the most f'd up product release I have ever seen. I think specops got in over their heads.

I am pretty pissed off by the whole thing.

Yeah, I agree. I don't know how you market this as the most customizable marker ever made, and then not have any mods available for it!! Kinds like shooting yourself in the foot.

I'm interested in how you modded it also Zeus. I really want to put a SAW stock on my X7, and haven't seen one for the X7, so would like to mod an A-5 version.

It requires a bit of drilling. I bought a g36 stock from opsgear they are cheap $27.00 bucks etc.. I lined the holes up as best as possible.. and drilled through. ( the a-5 and x-7 holes back there are different heights). The blowback rod and spring dig is smaller on a-5 stocks than x7 but it still reaches and works fine.

Another option is jsut to wait. I know tippmann is also releasing a saw stock for the x7 next week..

I just prefer opsgear stocks over special ops/tippmann stuff.. but that's just me

All I cna say is your not gonna see me buying shrouds form tippmann/spec ops for my x7. I'l stick to military grade stuff. Their stocks might not be so bad.. but I am not a fan of their" kits" so far for it.

It's pretty decent quality. I haven't had a problem with it so far. Definitely doesn't feel cheap like any of the airsoft guns I've held.

well the way i see it is that im going to save up 600-700 bucks and get the gun with e-trigger and set it up like a g36

but how is it up against an a-5? some peopel on the spec ops forms seem to think that its not worth the money

Performance wise, it's basically the same as an A-5. The body is made of a magnesium composite (I believe) which is supposed to be lighter than the A-5 aluminum body, but since the marker is slightly taller than the A-5, the marker is a little heavier. Same internals for the most part. Tippmann advertises the Cyclone as being improved with little venting holes in the metal tube that feeds the air to it, but I honestly haven't noticed a difference in the cycle rate with just the mech grip on it. I guess the true test will be when they finally come out with the e-Grip for it. Essentially though, it's pretty much the same marker, with a different shell and Tippmann/SpecOps branded accessories to go with it.

so if i was thinking of upgradenig form my us-5 that is basicly an a-5 with a slower etrigger and no cyclone its just going to be worth it? ( in a sence that i just spend more money for the outside look of the gun which it seems like tippmann is trying to go on)

I think whether or not it will be worth it is something you have to decide. What are you hoping to get in a new marker that you don't have in your US-5, and will the X7 get you that, or will another marker meet your needs? If you are going for looks, you can get them in several different ways with the X7, no doubt. I don't know what the BPS rate of the US-5 is, but if you are looking for a HUGE difference between the two, you can probably get it with an eGrip X7, and some sort of after market board upgrade like a Virtue when they become available. Just keep in mind, the faster you can shoot, the more paint you will go through, so it will cost you more to play if you are using the higher speed markers to their full potential.

really there are just not that many up grades out for the us-5 and now that it seems as quickly as PMI put it out they have stoped makeing new things for it. As for BPS the us-5 gets around 12-13 thats a good speed but i would like some thing a little faster and im not sure if the board in its egrip can be upped. Really i am only into the x-7 for its cosmetics my us-5 is a damn good gun it just dosnt have the right cosmetic ups for it i know that i could make my own with some cheap airsoft gun that i get at a flee market for about 20-30 bucks and make it look tight. I just have been rethinking my purches of it even if its getting to be a year old gun. Im just trying to find a gun with a nice fan base that is more custamise able sure the us-5 takes tons of a-5 mods but some of them requier one to drill small holes and thats not my bag im not one to drill holes in something i payed 200 bucks for

You won't see any upgrades for the US*5 now that PMI & NPS have merged. That is the word on the street.

I think you are looking for an A5. The X7 will be a nice marker but if you want upgrades - the A5 has more than any marker out there. You can upgrade the board and you can upgrade the cyclone as well as dozens of cosmetic upgrades.

I would consider getting an A5, they are available used and also can be had for a good price new through Ghostman.

aquateenjunkie is on a distinguished road
well i tried ordering my x7 from specops , but i found out that they didnt ship it yet so im taking the money out and buying one from mickeys army navy for 10 bucks cheaper. (im still mad though that i didnt get my two free nades)

yesterday i got to hold one . and it feels realy natural and light. i cant wait for the mods , and the e-grip. i have a real nice red dot to go allong with it to and maybe later a nade launcher.

i dont realy like the fact that its made out of magnesium ( and i think some plastic in the fore grip ) im afraid it'll brake. the mag seems cheap. the barrell has no porting. and the rails dont look sturdy.

btw, can i just buy a regular e-grip for it instead of waiting till april.??

* note that i only held the gun for about one minute and have not bought or shot the gun.

By "regular e-grip" I'm assuming you are referring to the A-5 e-grip? It's actually not compatible with the X7. The A-5 double trigger kits are also not compatible.
